Project details

We’ve invested in and become members of the Hyperion Solar Community because we believe in energy democracy. The community is constructing a 500kW solar park in Corinth. It will produce around 800,000 kWh of solar energy per year and generate clean energy for almost 150 homes, a portion of which are vulnerable low-income households.

Being collectively owned, the Hyperion Solar Community is the first of its kind in Athens. Members include Greenpeace Greece, Electra Energy Cooperative and Genervest. Using net metering, the solar farm is set to sell its energy onto the grid which will then be distributed and consumed by members of the community.

The community will also share know-how with other energy cooperatives throughout the country. By inspiring others to move from being consumers to prosumers we hope to tackle energy poverty in Greece.
